The Scottish Radical Library is a free lending library based at the Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh (ACE). We offer access to books, magazines, journals, pamphlets, DVDs, and visual material relating to a wide range of radical left causes.

Our collection covers autonomous social movements, Anarchism, Marxism, Feminism, Revolutionary movements against Imperialism, Colonialism and White supremacy, and much more besides. We occasionally organise book talks and events which are free and open to the public.

We advertise our events on the ACE website & Facebook page. Events are a chance to discuss and organise work connected with the running of the library, as well as developing new projects, coordinating volunteers and organising potential collaborations. Everyone is welcome to come along and find out more. We can provide an introduction to the library and give some guidance to those interested in volunteering.

Please read our collection policy and donation information sheet if you are interested in helping to develop our project or donate material relevant to our collection.

The Autonomous Archive

Alongside the SRL, we also maintain the Autonomous Archive based here at ACE. This collection contains written and visual documents covering a range of radical history throughout Scotland, the UK and beyond. Materials include Anarchist journals, Libertarian groups and the documents of many other radical initiatives.

We ask that all people who attend the SRL read and abide by our safer spaces policy.
